About Us

Barry Jackson

Barry graduated in 1988 after completing a 4 year full-time diploma at the British School of Osteopathy and established the practice, the first in West Cumbria, with his wife Judith in 1989. Barry has many years experience treating people of all ages with a wide variety of problems.

'My satisfaction comes from helping resolve a problem for someone who has, in many instances, had symptoms for many weeks or months. It is also rewarding to play a part in maintaining a person's physical health and encouraging people to take an active role in keeping themselves well.'

Jonathan Hemingway

Jonathan came to Workington from nearby Penrith in 2013 after a spell working in West Yorkshire. His degree from Oxford Brookes University in 2012 had a particular focus on evidence-based medicine, sports injury management, treatment of degenerative conditions, human movement mechanics & workstation assessments. Since graduating in 2012 Jon has been keen to continue learning by completing courses in acupuncture and kinesio taping techniques. His spare time is filled with a wide variety of sporting and musical interests.

"I feel very privileged to be an osteopath. It's great to be able to help people and be appreciated just for doing my day job. It's something I certainly don't take for granted and I'm looking forward to striving to help people as professionally and quickly as possible for many years to come."

Kimberley Sherris

Kim graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 2014 having gained valuable experience in various external specialist clinics, including geriatrics, paediatrics and GP referred patients. She initially worked in her native Isles of Scilly, before moving to Cumbria, joining Workington Osteopaths in January 2015. Aside from her work Kim's passion is rowing and she also enjoys fell walking.

"Working with people, especially with a hands-on approach, is the aspect of my job that I love the most. I enjoy the challenge created by having no two patients the same, so listening to what they have to say is paramount. This means I can then tailor the treatment and aftercare to their own individual needs."

Judith Jackson

Judith qualified as an osteopath in 1989 and established the practice with her husband Barry. Since she stopped practicing in 2014 Judith has looked after the practice administration and shares the reception duties with Ruth and Debbie.

Ruth Billinge

Ruth joined Workington Osteopaths in 2009. With her back ground in customer services and complementary medicine, Ruth now combines this experience and interest in her role as receptionist.

Debbie Gorley

Debbie joined our reception team in July 2017 following a long career in banking. Having worked in management, financial planning and customer service in many local branches over the last 35 years she brings a wealth of experience to her role as receptionist.
